There are so many ways you can see today.
You can see crisis, hypocrisy, division, and fear. You can see death, war, destruction, and despair. You can see patriarchy, narcissism, greed, and domination.
OR…
You can see 8 billion people working out a lot of karma.
I don’t speak of karma as most think and go immediately to something negative.
Karma is just simply the result of cause and effect.
Humans do things in the physical world reality(cause) and there is an outcome(effect). This is what our world and life are made of. Trillions (likely a lot more) of actions and zillions of results. (is that a number?)
With the help of technology, social media, and now mainstream AI the experience of the cause and effect is exponentially expressed, shared, and received, - it is BEYOND impactful.
Think about that with me for a moment.
You and I are just one person in our lives, moving through day by day. Think about all the cause and effect we are each creating in our lives.
We wake up and have an anxious thought, we judge that thought as not so good, and then more come. We decided to meditate and do some conscious breathing and we use our phone for this. As we pick it up a notification comes in from email or Instagram and we follow its lead. Thirty minutes later we are scrolling trying to connect or make sense of the thoughts coming from this cause, and we feel more anxious. We judge ourselves for taking the bait of a notification and find our way back to our meditation but we see the clock and realize we have to get in the shower to get to our first meeting on time, and on it goes.
Of course, our days can and do go in many different directions and flavors, and those were just a few examples of how the cause and effect is happening, again and again, and again.
Imagine then, the energetic vibration that is being shared throughout this planet, this galaxy even in every millisecond.
With 8 billion people up to all kinds of shenanigans in every one of those milliseconds across the globe. I haven’t even mentioned the impact of this energetic pressure on Mother Earth and nature.
And, before I go further down that rabbit hole and find myself at a loss for terms (got a D in Trigonometry), you get the picture, right?
It’s a lot.
We are all feeling it.
We are feeling our own lives and all of our many causes and effects each day, along with those that we are near, those we love, and those work with, for example.
We are also all feeling the vibration of society. The greater collective; way beyond what we can see or grasp.
Right about now, the vibration of society is at an all-time frequency.
I remember when my grandfather played with my second-generation iPhone beguiled with “google earth” where I showed him his street and home from sky aerial view. For a man who was born at a time when phones were not so accessible and TVs were still not yet inside homes, he was transfixed. We have come a few city blocks since he was born.
Imagine a few hundred years further back. Things are a wee bit different.
We have access to so much in this day and age that we cannot remember a life that was only a few short decades back.
And, it’s all temporary. Moving. Changing. Shifting.
Can you imagine that? Temporary. A blip. Seriously.
If you can’t imagine that just go back to December of 2020 and recall how much you and the entire planet moved, changed, and shifted. What we could not conceive of became everyday, “normal.”
In this temporariness, what we get full hold of is what we think of it. The stories we create around it all. If it’s temporary might we see it and process it a bit differently?
Let’s try. Together. To see our options.
We could see today through lenses of overwhelm, disappointment, and profound disapproval. It would be easy to see it that way among many other more potent adjectives.
We could also see today as a tremendous possibility, fusing, community building, and triumphant. We could see today as a monumental time in human history, a rising, a villain so great, we are forced to unify and see our Shero.
We could also see the cause and effect.
We could see the temporariness of it all, including our existence.
Imagine how you might be, feel, think, and play if you were rooted in your temporariness.
Imagine the pressure we may release. Or not.
Imagine the humility we may possess.
Imagine the karma we would be co-creating if we Knew our temporariness.
Every day.
All day.
I like to imagine. Maybe you will join me there.
In Rumi’s field.
