I have wanted to start a podcast since 2014…way before the industry is what it is now.
The Rich Roll Podcast was my original inspiration, and I still listen to him as often as possible. He is mostly long form but he has the most interesting people on his show and he facilitates beautiful conversations. He is a lawyer, gone sober, turned ultra-athlete, and became the creator of a top-rated podcast, (#5 today) in the US for education and self-improvement. What his show has become is mind-blowing. I aspire.
In 2016, I attempted my first go with a dialogue I titled, “The Contemporary Woman’s Mystical Path Podcast.” I recorded seven fascinating conversations, taught myself to edit audio, and created my fun intro and outro….it was a true labor of love. Due to some life events, however, it never launched.
In hindsight, I can see how it was ultimately a reflection of my fear of fully unleashing my authentic voice.
My path as a truth-seeker began in high school, initially driven by a need to find relief from the suffering I often felt. I was deeply affected by the actions of others and the events happening in the world, and this sensitivity compelled me to search for answers and understanding.
This path eventually led me to pursue a Masters program in Spiritual Psychology in my late 20s, an experience that profoundly transformed me.
At the same time, my corporate career was beginning to flourish. Although it was fulfilling in many ways, I found myself having to conceal certain aspects of my identity. As I climbed the career ladder, I felt that being a strong, vocal, and engaged Latina woman was perceived as threatening by some individuals. I was encouraged, both subtly and overtly, to censor myself.
I felt that I couldn't freely express the spiritual part of myself or mention my Masters level education in that context. While my spirituality was an integral part of who I was, it wasn't something I felt comfortable referencing openly in my professional life. I remember omitting the word "spiritual" from my CV when listing my degree in those early years.
The world dismissed spirituality and self-help as “woo woo.”
Remember? Many still do. However, that seems to be expanding and shifting now.
I was afraid to officially launch my first podcast for fear it would block me from opportunities. I have many reference points in my career history that gave me good reason to feel this way.
Today, however, I am no longer muffling the fullness of my expression and the truth that has been attempting to come through me for a very long time.
That brings me to my NEW podcast, entitled, “Heal Your Part.”
Heal Your Part was originally the title of my first book, and during the process of working through my book proposal, the name was relinquished.
I felt a strong connection to this title because it came to me vividly, along with the concept for a book, during an immersive seminar I attended in 2017.
As I develop my new business, which encompasses my podcast and book, a clear theme emerges: each project takes on a unique form, yet all are rooted in the soul's journey, with healing as a fundamental component.
Heal Your Part is a dialogue about healing, just not in the way you may immediately think.
It's a dialogue about the opportunity we have individually and societally to heal in a myriad of ways. The intention is to normalize healing and to participate in removing the stigma from mental health.
Through this podcast, I aim to foster open and honest conversations about the challenges we all face in our lives, acknowledging that these experiences are shared by many and should not be kept hidden or separate from our everyday discussions.
I will record solo episodes and interview guests from diverse backgrounds.
I will explore a wide range of topics, including inner work, intuition, imposter syndrome, and organizational themes such as psychological safety, navigating opposing viewpoints, bridging generational differences, and fostering equity. By delving into these subjects, I intend to provide listeners with valuable insights and strategies for personal growth and professional development.
At the core of each topic lies the potential for healing. By gaining a deeper understanding of the healing process and learning how to heal ourselves, we can effectively address and resolve many of the challenges we encounter.
The purpose of this dialogue is to empower listeners with the knowledge and tools necessary to engage in their own healing journeys, ultimately leading to greater well-being and success both personally and professionally.
If you are called to follow my journey and be an “early adopter” - I say humbly, you can find me currently on Instagram, here.
What is a heartfelt project or dream waiting for your time and attention?
How is this project or dream inviting you to honor your life's purpose and share your unique gifts?
What would be one small action step to reconnect with it?
I so encourage you to find ways to honor the calling of your heart. Consider it as fundamental as eating, drinking, and sleeping. It is the nurturing of your soul.
Congrats, my truth-seeking comrade. I've thought about starting a podcast, too, and it's great to hear your story. We have lots of similar ties—down to being Latina.
Thank you for for the inspo to pursue my dreams!
